An Xbox Game Is One of The Best Reasons To Buy A PS5 Pro!

Story Highlight
  • Hellblade 2 is best played on PS5 Pro for console players.
  • Ninja Theory seems to agree that the game makes a strong case for a PlayStation purchase, leading to mixed reactions.
  • Fans find it ironic that an Xbox game is a strong reason to buy a PS5 Pro.

Hellblade 2 launched last year as an Xbox Series S|X exclusive, but the game has since made its way to the PS5. This platform also supports 60FPS gameplay for one of Unreal Engine 5’s most ambitious showcases, with the PS5 Pro pushing the resolution and visuals to new heights.

In fact, Ninja Theory even seems to believe that Hellblade 2 makes a strong case for a PS5 Pro purchase.

Why it matters: Hellblade 2 launched as a more complete game on PlayStation than Xbox, offering 60FPS from the beginning on the former.

Over on Twitter, Ninja Theory recently shared an interesting statement from one of Hellblade 2’s PS5 reviews, which comes from the outlet PlayStation Lifestyle.

One of the best reasons to own a PS5 Pro.

For context, the PS5 Pro offers various improvements over the base consoles. In addition to PSSR support, the game runs at an average resolution of 1696p at 30FPS and 1166p at 60FPS.

These figures mark notable improvements over the base PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. Elsewhere, elements like shadows see an improvement in the PS5 Pro version, closely matching the base console’s quality mode settings in performance mode.

However, the interesting part here is that Xbox and Microsoft own Ninja Theory, and some fans saw this repost as the team promoting PlayStation hardware. Many have even pointed out the irony in an Xbox game being one of the best reasons to own a PS5 Pro.

In the past, the team also referred to Hellblade 2’s PS5 release as feeling like coming home. Ninja Theory clearly appears to be pleased with the game’s release on PlayStation, but fan reactions have been more mixed.

Xbox’s new third-party focus means that this may not be the last time one of its studios advertises a PlayStation platform for its games.

Moving forward, the likes of Gears of War: E-Day are expected on the PS5, and if Hellblade 2 is any indication, The Coalition’s Unreal Engine 5-based title should prove to be yet another strong showcase for the PS5 Pro.
