Caters To All Different Playstyles!

Story Highlight
  • Sucker Punch says Ghost of Yotei allows for the most player freedom in their games.
  • It caters to all sorts of player styles, like combat, exploration, and story-oriented.
  • The showcase highlighted different mechanics for each of the different playstyles.

PlayStation recently revealed a detailed look at its upcoming exclusive Ghost of Yotei with a dedicated State of Play. The title looks mostly like it’s 2020 predecessor, but it does have a few new tricks up its sleeve to make it feel new.

Sucker Punch says that Ghost of Yotei provides the most player freedom out of all of the studio’s titles. Considering that Ghost of Tsushima also had a vast open world, the new entry will take it up a notch.

Why it matters: Ghost of Yotei has been highly anticipated since its reveal in September last year. Given the positive reception of the first title, expectations for this one are also exceptionally high.

According to the State of Play trailer, Ghost of Yotei isn’t going to rush you through the gameplay; instead, it focuses a lot on player freedom. So, it isn’t only combat-focused, but has also been made for other playstyles.

While combat was the main focal point of Ghost of Tsushima, with the latest title, exploration, combat, and storytelling all have equal progression, as we saw from the showcase. So, different mechanics have been implemented for each.

Ghost of Yotei will be a complete experience for all play styles.

For example, you can travel back in time with a button to Atsu‘s past and learn more about her story. In addition, there is a clue system, and you can draw cards that track different elements like points of interest, quests, and more.

Sucker Punch says the best way to enjoy the game is to just go with the flow. Take in backgrounds, explore, and engage in activities. Everything will feel like a whole experience for all types of players.
