Gavin Raeburn founded Playground Games with Trevor Williams in 2009 but suddenly decided to quit in 2022. Playground Games is one of Microsoft’s biggest studios, so it was a massive loss for them to lose Gavin Raeburn.
Gavid Raeburn worked 12 years on a five award-winning Forza Horizon series. His contribution and leadership made it possible for this series to be successful.
It was shocking that Gavin Raeburn left the studio after the successful release of Forza Horizon 5. The studio confirmed that Playground’s General Manager, Trevor Williams, would be the new studio director. Still, the studio didn’t provide the reasons for Gavin leaving and what he will be doing next.
Today, it was confirmed on Gavin Raeburn’s Linkedin profile that he has been working on an unannounced startup for the last 4 months. Should we expect a new racing game from the new studio under Gavin’s command?
It is confirmed that he has been working on this project since July 2022. For now, we don’t have much information on this news, so we can’t be sure of this unannounced project, but keeping Gavin’s achievements and experience in mind, we can hope for something better related to the Racing category.
There hasn’t been any news from Microsoft, so we don’t know if Microsoft is investing or keeping an eye on this project. We are excited about the unannounced project because we will be able to see Gavin’s great work again. Keeping the Forza Horizon series in mind, we are being optimistic and expecting the same results from Gavin.
