Story Highlight
  • Forza Horizon 5 has made $100 million in revenue on the PS5 alone in under 2 months of its release.
  • The title has sold 2.2 million copies on the PS5, which is a significant achievement for a title that is now four years old.
  •  The game has also outsold Assassin’s Creed Shadows in just 3 weeks despite launching after the RPG.

As a part of their multiplatform strategy, Xbox decided to bring Forza Horizon 5, one of its three biggest franchises, to PlayStation. So far, Xbox’s publisher route has worked successfully for them, with the gaming giant witnessing profits never seen before.

To show how big of a success Forza Horizon 5 has been on the PS5, an analyst has now revealed that the title has made a whopping $100 million in revenue on the platform. This statistic is even more impressive considering Forza Horizon 5 is a four-year-old title.

Why it matters: Forza Horizon is one of the few franchises that has remained consistent and dominated its relevant genre. Even before its PlayStation release, the franchise continued to produce extraordinary statistics like this.

Forza Horizon 5 Has Surpassed The 45 Million Player Count

This report comes from Alinea Analytics, which also reveals that Forza Horizon 5 has sold 2.2 million copies on the PS5 so far. It’s not even been 2 months since the title hit the rival platform, and it’s putting up numbers better than newer AAA releases.

Talking about comparison, Forza Horizon 5 also outsold Assassin’s Creed Shadows in just 3 weeks of its launch, despite launching after the RPG and being a 4-year-old title. Throughout April and May, Xbox continued to dominate PlayStation Store downloads as a publisher, with Forza Horizon 5 taking the lead.

This has also cemented Forza Horizon 5 as the best-selling Xbox title on the PS5. That could change in the future with other franchises, such as Gears of War, headed to the opposing platform on release.

Even before its PS5 release, Forza Horizon was the biggest franchise in racing. Playground Games founder also claimed that Forza Horizon made more money than The Crew, Need for Speed, Gran Turismo, and F1 combined, all while being an Xbox exclusive. This highlights the significant size of the franchise, and its success on PS5 should be considered a minor achievement.
