Majority Of Fans Are Unwilling To Buy The Next-Gen Xbox Console

"Why Bother Making The Next-Gen" Says One Fan!

Story Highlight
  • Following Xbox’s multiplatform route, fans argue that buying the next-gen console would be useless.
  • Even the current Series X|S consoles are quite costly, and the next-gen Xbox would be beyond the reach of most consumers.
  • On the other hand, PlayStation approaches exclusivity strategically, and this is a huge selling point for its consoles.

Following a rough start to this generation, Xbox has now withdrawn its competition with PlayStation and gone the publisher route.

While the multi-platform strategy was a corporate win, the gaming giant has lost its mass appeal. The majority of Xbox fans are now claiming that they won’t buy the next-gen console anymore.

Why it matters: With Xbox out of the equation, PlayStation will completely dominate the console market. A lack of competition would adversely affect the gaming industry.

Poll Asking If Fans Will Buy The Next-Gen Xbox Console Or Not

A recent poll showed that more than 55% of users won’t buy the next-gen Xbox console, while almost 25% think that it’ll depend on the console itself. Only the remaining 20% of voters will buy a next-gen Xbox.

Fans argue that Xbox’s multi-platform strategy has made the Series X|S console unappealing, with no exclusives. Even the core Xbox franchises like Gears of War and Forza Horizon are now on PlayStation.

Even the current Series X|S consoles are beyond the average consumer’s needs after such a price hike. The Series X costs almost as much as a PS5 Pro.

Most even question the need for an Xbox Next-Gen console now that it has lost all of its charm.

Still, the gaming giant doesn’t plan to stop making consoles, and the next iteration of Xbox consoles is already in development.
