Story Highlight
  • Doom: The Dark Ages gameplay has received praise from almost everyone.
  • The developer has gone back to the series’ roots with this title, so many were wondering whether this is going to be the last title.
  • The creative director at id Software has revealed that it isn’t going to be the last game as he loves making Doom games.

Doom: The Dark Ages was revealed last year during Xbox Games Showcase. The reveal surprised many fans, and thanks to the burst in hype, it instantly became the most wish-listed game on Steam.

Just recently, during Xbox Developer Direct, the gaming giant announced its release date along with an in-depth gameplay trailer. For those who have been wondering that The Dark Ages could be the final game in the series; that isn’t the case as there will be more Doom games

Why it matters: Doom is among the most iconic series in the gaming industry so it wouldn’t feel right with The Dark Ages being the final game.

Doom Is Going Back To Its Roots With The Upcoming Game In The Series

Speaking to PCGamer during the preview event the creative director at id Software director Hugo Martin revealed that the series won’t end with The Dark Ages

It isn’t designed to be the end of something. Genuinely, sincerely, we’re really just focused on this right now, and Doom: The Dark Ages isn’t a period on the end of a sentence.

-Hugo Martin

Everyone has praised The Dark Ages’ gameplay as it exceeded expectations in every way. The developer has surprised its fandom by keeping the same level of violence when the combat is so different from the last title.

Doom Eternal featured fast-paced combat where you can constantly shift between weapons and abilities, so, of course, the violence was extreme, too. With The Dark Ages, the developer has gone back to the series’ roots, which is exactly why the fandom was wondering whether it will be a conclusion.

However, we will be receiving more games in the future. It is also worth noting that the game won’t feature multiplayer, as the developers want the players to have a strong single-player experience.
