Death Stranding 2 Received Bad Review Because of “Questionable Tropes Around Women”

Something Similar Happened With Black Myth: Wukong!

Story Highlight
  • Death Stranding 2 has received a solid 90 score on Metacritic.
  • While the majority of game reviews are positive, there is one negative that doesn’t make sense.
  • One media outlet gave the game a low score because it allegedly features questionable tropes around women.

Death Stranding 2 reviews are out, and on Metacritic, it has received a solid 90 rating, making it one of the highest-rated titles of 2025. The majority of people are singing praises of this game, which apparently Hideo Kojima doesn’t like. That is because he doesn’t want the majority to like his game.

While most of the reviews are positive, there are some negative ones that honestly don’t make any sense. One review in particular gives Death Stranding 2 a 7/10 score because of questionable tropes around women, which is honestly a pretty terrible reason to mention as a con.

Why it matters: These media outlets continue to push DEI into video games and give negative reviews to the ones based on their cultural preference and political agenda.

Controversial Death Stranding 2 Review
A Death Stranding Review Has Become Controversial Due To an Unfair Low Score

One of the very popular gaming media mentioned “questionable tropes around women” as one of the cons of Death Stranding 2, which has triggered the fandom. The fans have called out the reviewer on Twitter and bashed it for judging a game for such a reason.

Thanks for making not trusting you or taking your critique seriously a loooot easier.

“Not woke enough” looks like I’ll be grabbing a copy…

What a horrible review. What tropes?

Questionable female tropes? Is this a video game you are reviewing or a DEI initiatives?

-Fans

A lot of people in the comments section are saying that they will be buying this game day one and that it is a must-play title because it has managed to anger such reviewers, which proves that it is not woke.

Some fans are claiming that the media didn’t get money from the developer, and that is why they lowered the score. The replies are just filled with accusations, but can you blame the fans?

It is worth noting that this review came from a person who seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed Concord.

Another thing worth pointing out is that Black Myth: Wukong also received negative reviews just because it didn’t have enough diversity and inclusivity, despite the fact that its main character is a monkey and it is based on Chinese mythology.
