- Control 2 will be an action RPG, even though its prequel is an action-adventure game.
- Remedy Entertainment shifting the genre might confuse fans, but it can be trusted to do bizarre things.
- The game has a budget of €50 million, so it will need to sell 3-4 million copies to reach 100% ROI.
Control is one of the most unique action-adventure games that took many fans by surprise in 2019. It is brilliant how Remedy connects its games’ universe, but fans can’t get enough of that.
A sequel to Control is in development, and Remedy Entertainment has just recently revealed some information about it. Control 2 will be an action RPG with a budget of €50M. Remedy will have to sell 3-4 million copies in order to reach 100% ROI (return on investment).
Why it matters: Control, being an action-adventure, sets a base for the franchise, so it would be interesting to see how its sequel manages to enhance the experience by shifting genre.
This information was revealed during an investor’s presentation. Remedy revealed some information about its latest games, like Alan Wake 2, which has sold 1.8 million copies since its release. Control is also getting a free update next year.
The company also revealed that Control 2 would not be an action-adventure. Rather, it will be an action RPG with a budget of €50M. Also, it was revealed that FBC: Firebreak, Control, and Alan Wake 2 are all set in the Remedy-connected universe.
So, it would be great to see how Remedy manages to connect Firebreak with the rest.
What do you think about Concord 2 being shifted from an action-adventure to an action RPG? With this, will the game lose its identity, or would this innovation help it gain more player base than ever?
