In June 2021, Remedy announced its plans for a bigger-budget Control game. Today CEO, Tero Virtala, confirmed in a statement that the bigger-budget control game is Control 2, which is currently being developed. He said;
“I’m now proud to confirm that the bigger-budget Control game, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, a full-blown sequel to our award-winning game Control.”
It is now confirmed that Control 2, formerly known as Codename Heron, will release for PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Control 2 is the sequel to the award-winning game Control and will be co-developed and published with 505 Games. While Remedy Games will publish the PC Version, 505 Games will take care of the game’s development on Consoles.
Furthermore, it was revealed that the Remedy’s Northlight Engine would power the game. The game is still in the early phase of development and might take a long time to finish. But as stated by the game director, Mikael Kasurinen, the wait will be worth it. He said in a blog post:
“With Control, we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us.”
As the game was first revealed as it will contain even more budget than the award-winning game Control, it is fair to expect the game to be pleasing for the fans. Moreover, the director stated that it would be worth the wait; first, the fans will have to wait a long time, which is to be expected, but they wait while keeping their hopes high for high.
Control is the most significant investment ever made by 505 Games. Since the launch of Control, it has sold an impressive amount of 3 million units, making the game a complete success. Moreover, the enhanced version of the game was also released later on the PC and Consoles.
For now, we don’t have more information regarding Control 2, but with this much, we can be sure that the game is set to change many gamers’ experiences, and the hype is also given so that the wait will be worth it.
