Following a slow but steady launch with Alan Wake 2, Remedy’s hands are full with future releases. Among their slated release is the sequel to 2019’s Control, which has now entered full production.

The studio is now done with the proof-of-concept stage with Control 2, and with the game now in the production stage, it’s expected to be released within 15-26 months.

Why it matters: With 6 years since the original game’s release, fans have patiently awaited a sequel for Control. They’ll be pleased that the sequel isn’t far away, releasing in around 2 years, more or less.

Development Stages That A Remedy Game Goes Through || Source: Remedy

The latest annual report by Remedy revealed that the studio’s game passes through multiple development stages before it enters full production. Control 2’s development has already taken a few years through multiple stages before entering full-fledged production.

As per the developers, more than 75 internal employees work on their release, while external staff can reach more than 200 people. Previously, it was reported that the game is eyeing a 2027 release.

Remedy has also recently acquired the full rights to the Control franchise and will self-publish the sequel. This is great news for the game since Epic Games’s involvement significantly hurt Alan Wake 2’s sales.

Moreover, Remedy partnered strategically with Annapurna, who will finance 50% of the game’s sequel.

Control 2’s budget has already substantially increased from its sequel. The franchise will expand much more in the future with adaptations of movies and TV Shows.

Furthermore, the studio is also working on 3 AAA releases, all in full production stages. Aside from Control 2, the studio is working on FBC: Firebreak, a first-person co-op shooter set within the same universe as Control.
