Remedy Doing Its Best For Max Payne!

Story Highlight
  • Remedy is focused on producing excellent remakes for Max Payne.
  • The studio hopes to meet Rockstar Games’ high expectations with this release.
  • It has also been confirmed that Rockstar Games will take care of the budget for marketing and production.

Remedy has returned with a small update on the Max Payne remakes. Following confirmation of production kicking off and moving along smoothly, the team has highlighted its primary goals for the project.

According to Remedy’s CEO, the studio intends to produce an excellent rendition of the classic third-person shooters.

Why it matters: Owing to the current popularity of remakes, Remedy has the opportunity to introduce Max Payne to a massive audience. The team must, therefore, ensure these projects are at their best from day one.

As part of its focus on partner franchises, Remedy hopes to build a strong action game team. Max Payne is part of the same initiative since the franchise is owned by Rockstar Games.

This studio is also funding the project and recently allocated a bigger budget for the remakes. As per CEO Tero Virtala, the team is focused on both commercial success and reaching a high bar of quality for the remakes.

Our primary goal is clear: to create an excellent Max Payne Remake.

Furthermore, the studio confirmed that Rockstar Games will take the lead on marketing. This means that practically all of the expenses are being handled by the owner of the IP, and Remedy has stated that it does not intend to disappoint Rockstar Games.

According to the CEO, the studio’s current work is in line with Rockstar Games’ expectations. Remedy itself has very high expectations, so there is little room for error.

Max Payne Remake in Full Production
The Max Payne franchise is one of Remedy’s biggest IPs.

More meaningful information on the remakes should be available at some point next year as the studio makes significant progress in production. As for other franchises, CEO Tero Virtala recently confirmed that Control 2 is set to be an action RPG with a higher budget than its predecessor.
