Concord Dev Claims To Have ‘Shipped A Great FPS Experience To Players’ In Closure Statement

Says The Beta Attracted Hundreds of Thousands of Players!

Story Highlight
  • Sony has officially closed the developer behind Concord.
  • Firewalk Studios has issued its closure statement on Twitter and claims to have delivered a great FPS experience to players.
  • It also claimed that the game’s beta attracted hundreds of thousands of players while there were less than 3k players on Steam.

Concord is arguably the biggest failure of the gaming industry. It allegedly took around $400 million to develop and market, but all the money was ultimately wasted. The game’s servers went offline shortly after release, and everyone was refunded.

Just recently, Sony closed the studio, which was an expected outcome. However, the developer claimed to have shipped a great FPS experience to players despite the failure in its closure statement.

Why it matters: Concord was highly criticised for being a generic live-service FPS game, its characters, and, of course, the $40 price tag

Firewalk Studios Claims That Concord Was A Great FPS Experience For Players In Closure Statement

Firewalk Studios on Twitter issued its closure statement stating that it has built a game that delivers top-tier gameplay, beautiful worlds, and technical experience performance-wise. It also said that the game was played by hundreds of thousands of players in the beta, while there were less than 3k players on Steam.

Furthermore, the developer said that it has shipped a great FPS experience to the players, which ‘the players’ don’t seem to agree with.

And ultimately ship and deliver a great FPS experience to players- even if it landed much more narrowly than hoped against a heavily consolidated market.

In the comments section, you can see that many are trolling the developer. While some fans wish Firewlak Studios good luck, others criticise it for saying it was deserved and making fun of the developer by saying, ‘Your pronouns are was/were.’

Given how criticised Concord was, such a reception was expected. A failure on such a massive level would guarantee the closure of almost any developer, especially if it was the studio’s first project.

What do you think about the closure statement of Firewalk Studios? Do you think it delivered a great FPS experience for the players? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, or join the discussion on Tech4Gamers’ official forums.
