- A new Red Dead Redemption game is almost confirmed, and fans hope Charles Smith will play a lead role in it.
- Some fans think that exploring Canada as a young Charles would be interesting.
- After the gang was broken, Charles managed to flee to Canada so his life could be worth exploring.
Red Dead Redemption is arguably one of the biggest franchises in the gaming industry right now. The story of Arthur Morgan and John Marston has a huge influence on gamers, with many claiming the former to be the best-written character in fiction.
The last game in the series, Red Dead Redemption 2, was released in 2018, and ever since, fans have been hoping for a new entry. While there are many hints confirming the existence of Red Dead Redemption 3, fans are demanding to see Charles Smith as the lead in the title.
Why it matters: A new Red Dead Redemption game is long overdue, and fans already have quite a few ideas on how Rockstar can explore the series further.
RDR 3 with a young Charles as the protagonist (or one of the Protags). Yeah or Nah? Exploring the Native American angle would be cool, something that's not usually seen in Western movies/shows.

In a Reddit thread at Reddeadredemptions created by a user, Wandering Brother proposed the idea of young Charles as the protagonist or one of the protagonists in RDR3. He thinks that exploring the Native American angle would be a good idea, as this hasn’t usually been in Western movies and shows.
While many people in the comments section seem to have different views on how Rockstar should treat the next game in the franchise, some seem to agree. Some users are finding this idea pretty good, as Charles has one of the best backstories in the game.
I’d do anything for a Charles prequel of some kind. Let’s meet his mom. Let’s meet his dad.
Let’s see how he interacted with the world before he left home, and after. I’m begging.

Charles is arguably one of the best characters in the game, so exploring his past would be a good option. His mother was abducted by US soldiers, which caused his father to become an alcoholic, forcing Charles to leave home at the age of 13.
He explored the wilderness and became an expert, which is why you can see him leading the way in Red Dead Redemption 2. While it is a great idea to see how he lived his life back then, it might not live up to the standards of the previous games.
After the gang was torn to pieces, Charles managed to flee to Canada, so exploring the country with him as the main lead might be a better idea. The Blackwater incident could also excite the fandom, as many would like to see the prime of a gunslinger even better than Arthur.
