"Very happy With How Its Going!"

Following a roller coaster of a journey with its latest title, CD Projekt Red is finally ready for the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.

Recent months have marked a transition in the game’s perception, with 80% of the Steam reviews now positive. The studio is using this momentum to release a massive update for the game alongside the new expansion in September.

The 2.0 update includes various changes, with the latest Gamescom footage providing a small glimpse at the new mechanics. All of this has resulted in a positive reception, and CD Projekt Red is pleased with the expansion’s current pre-orders.

Why it matters: Phantom Liberty marks yet another example of the renewed interest and trust in Cyberpunk 2077 and CD Projekt Red.

During the recent H1 2023 earnings conference, the studio referred to the expansion’s current pre-orders and said:

“We are very happy with how its going.”

The expansion was made available for pre-orders nearly two months ago. Following much anticipation, Phantom Liberty was revealed to be priced at $30, which raised a few eyebrows.

Nonetheless, the price does not appear to have negatively impacted the expansion. The studio has nearly transformed the game with new mechanics, and the upcoming narrative is also expected to expand on the engaging lore of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.

All of this has resulted in very strong pre-orders. However, CD Projekt Red believes the numbers will continue to accelerate as the release date approaches. They further stated:

“Of course, most pre-orders come in during the final pre-release days.”

The early impressions for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty have also been stellar, with a massive resurgence expected for the game next month. This was already observed recently when Cyberpunk 2077 became the third-best-selling game on Steam briefly.

Phantom Liberty is shaping up to be another chance for Cyberpunk 2077. The expansion is changing the very essence of the game, almost serving as a fresh start for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 franchise.

Following the expansion, the studio will focus on the next game in the series, claiming that the switch to Unreal Engine has prevented the developer from creating another expansion for the current game.
