- The firm now holds around 5.03% stakes after buying 26,788,500 shares in the company.
- Saudi Arabia has been making massive investments in gaming companies since the EA deal.
It seems that the Saudis are massively interested in major gaming companies. After a groundbreaking deal with EA, they have now acquired significant stakes in another massive player.
Electronic Game Development Company (EGDC), which is a Saudi-based investment, now holds 5.03% stakes in Capcom. The firm bought 26,788,500 shares, becoming a major stakeholder in the Japanese studio.
Why it matters: Saudi Arabian companies have been on a spending spree, first acquiring EA, and now making a significant investment in Capcom.

In a recent report, it was revealed that EGDC now holds a 5.03% stake in Capcom. Now there have been concerns from fans about the Saudi intervention, but the company says this is purely for investment.
Capcom has been doing really well over the past few years. It is amongst the only studios that have recorded years of profitability in consecutive years, thanks to solid game releases.
Monster Hunter Wilds was one of the biggest games on Steam last year. Additionally, they’ve kicked off 2026 on a very high note as well, with Resident Evil Requiem already selling over 6 million units.

So, from an investment point of view, Capcom does seem like the best studio out there. Since there won’t be any creative intervention, we can expect the deal not to change too much, which is a great thing.
