Borderlands 4 has been making headlines recently. Whether it be the game’s poor optimization or interesting statements from the Gearbox head, the title seems to be everywhere at the moment.

At the same time, the looter shooter is doing extremely well on platforms like Steam recently. In fact, analysis shows that the game has sold around 2 million units.

Why it matters: Gearbox was confident Borderlands 4 would do well, and it seems the studio was right to put its faith in the series’ return.

The Borderlands IP Is Back With A Bang

According to the latest information from Alinea Analytics, Borderlands 4 has sold more than 1 million units on Steam alone, with sales across all platforms being twice as high.

The game has also made $150 million in revenue so far, making it one of this year’s most profitable titles already. This figure puts the entire IP close to 100 million sales, cementing a strong legacy for Borderlands.

Despite the many issues, the game is showing no signs of slowing down. The negativity stemming from reactions to Randy Pitchford’s recent statements does not seem to have done much to harm the looter shooter, but it will be interesting to see how players respond to the title as it heads into the second week after release.
