- According to a senior reporter, Microsoft and Nintendo are working to bring Call of Duty to Switch 2.
- Black Ops 7 is already releasing on PS4 and Xbox One, so a Switch 2 seems probable.
- A reveal could happen at the upcoming rumored Nintendo Direct, focused on third-party AAA ports.
The Switch 2 is finally out and reportedly witnessed the biggest console launch in history, with 3 million units being sold in the first 24 hours. Nintendo has introduced several changes to the handheld this time around, with the major one being its improved hardware, now capable of handling AAA games.
As part of the earlier Xbox games headed to the Switch 2, Call of Duty will be a major one from the catalog. According to a new report, Black Ops 7 is headed to the Switch 2.
Why it matters: Call of Duty is undoubtedly the biggest FPS franchise ever. The game’s availability on the Switch 2 will significantly increase its player base.
This claim comes from a senior Kotaku reporter who recently posted on social media that Microsoft and Nintendo are working together to get Call of Duty on the Switch 2.
Black Ops 7 is also launching for last-gen 10-year-old Xbox One and PS4 consoles. As such, Switch 2 won’t be facing a problem handling the title. Moreover, the handheld has already proven its capabilities in handling major AAA releases, including Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, and others.
A Nintendo Direct is rumored for June, and several different leakers have corroborated this leak. This event is also said to focus on third-party AAA releases for the Switch 2.
One could expect the Black Ops 7 announcement for the handheld at the event, as well as additional Xbox first-party titles, which aren’t confirmed as of yet.
