Active Internet Required For All Modes!

Story Highlight
  • Black Ops 6 requires an internet connection for all parts of the game, including campaign mode.
  • The internet is used to download textures as you play the game.
  • This might act as a potential advantage for players with very fast internet in multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 finally received new trailer and gameplay details at the Xbox Showcase. According to the latest information, players will need an internet connection to play all parts of the game, even if they’re just playing the campaign.

Why it matters: Some players express concerns over accessibility and the potential for disrupted gameplay due to connectivity issues during the campaign mode.

This change comes alongside a feature called “texture streaming,” aimed at enhancing visual quality while reducing storage demands.

Activision has announced that Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming to provide high-quality visuals without taking up too much space on players’ hard drives. This means the game will download and display textures as needed.

However, this feature requires a constant internet connection for all game modes, including the campaign, multiplayer, and zombies. This raises concerns about whether it will provide an advantage to players with extremely fast internet connections in multiplayer modes.

For console players, there’s a slight reprieve. While the campaign mode requires an internet connection for texture streaming, it does not necessitate a subscription to premium online services like Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is turning back the clock by bringing classic zombies back.

This means that as long as players are connected to the internet, they can enjoy the single-player campaign without additional costs.

Moreover, the game’s storage requirement stands at a whopping 310GB, making it the biggest Call of Duty game ever in terms of storage.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is also leveling up the gameplay big time. It will feature a new movement tech called “Omnimovement,” which promises the smoothest, most responsive movement ever seen in Call of Duty.

This new system lets players string together combat moves in any direction, making players feel basically like Max Payne. Zombies fans will be thrilled to hear that the round-based mode is making a comeback, with two fresh maps right from the start and more on the way after launch.

There is a lot to look forward to in terms of gameplay and new features, especially since this entry will launch on Game Pass. However, the storage and always online requirement might be a deal breaker for some people.
