Black Myth: Wukong is bringing the grand adventures of Sun Wukong to the gaming medium. Set in the Souls-like genre, the game features large-scale bosses and an engaging combat system featuring a large arsenal from the character’s stories.
Recent reports claimed that the developer behind Black Myth: Wukong, Game Science Studio, was gearing up to release a demo for the Chinese public. A few days later, Geoff Keighley has confirmed that the game will be featured at Gamescom 2023.
Opening Night Live on August 22 will bring all-new footage from the game, and a recent leak also suggests that it will be playable to the public.
Why it matters: While Black Myth: Wukong looks extremely promising, a previous report claimed that the game faced various development hurdles. However, the new footage and gameplay demo could prove otherwise.

Insider Gaming reports that Black Myth: Wukong will have a massive presence at the event. In addition to the world premiere gameplay footage, Game Science Studio is bringing various booths for hands-on experience with the game.
Not much else is currently known about the playable demo, but it may be similar to the studio’s offering in China, considering both demos are set to be released in late August.
In addition to the Chinese demo announcement, a developer has teased Sun Wukong’s escape from Laozi’s eight-trigram furnace. As such, this part of Sun Wukong’s journey may be featured in the upcoming gameplay footage.
Black Myth: Wukong is expected to release at some point in 2024.
It is one of the many future games using the potential of Unreal Engine 5 to bring a vast world with impressive visuals and gameplay to life. Since the title has not appeared at major events for quite a while, the developer could use Gamescom to make a massive impression on audiences worldwide.
