- Bethesda has assured fans that work on The Elder Scrolls 6 is still underway.
- The sixth installment in the franchise was announced back 7 years ago, in 2018.
- Despite the assurance, the title isn’t expected to be released anytime before 2027.
Amid all the hype of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Bethesda also hid a tiny detail of their upcoming project. Oblivion Remastered was just shadowdropped after weeks of speculation, and fans are delighted to jump back into the critically acclaimed title finally.
After so much silence from the studio, Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still under active development, after fans were skeptical about its future.
Why it matters: There have been so many years since the last mainline Elder Scrolls game was released, so fans have been patiently waiting for Bethesda to make a move and announce something finally.
In the official reveal stream for Oblivion remastered, Todd Howard revealed that work on the 6th chapter of The Elder Scrolls is still underway. He further stated that what he loves about the franchise is that it continues to define the RPG genre.
While anything news about the title is good news, it might not be releasing anytime soon. According to a previous job listing, Elder Scrolls 6 might not even be in alpha state yet, so the expected release couldn’t be happening before 2027.
Nonetheless, despite the long wait that we might have to endure for the sixth installment, at least fans have Oblivion Remastered to look forward to, which has just shadowdropped. It has also already joined the list of top sellers on Steam.
