Battlefield 6 Ditching Mandatory EA App For Steam Users

Expert Verified By

The Curse Has Been Lifted, But Not For Epic Games!

Story Highlight
  • Fans were concerned that Battlefield 6 would require the annoying EA launcher to be played on Steam.
  • However, they should be delighted to know that EA has removed that requirement.
  • While on Steam, the requirement no longer exists, the same isn’t the case with Epic Games.

It would be fair to say that Battlefield 6 has exceeded everyone’s expectations with the latest gameplay reveal. The developer has gone back to its roots, as the destruction shown was unreal

Even though many were against pre-ordering the game, it became the best seller on Steam shortly after the reveal. However, fans were concerned that it may still require the EA app to play on Steam, but guess what? That requirement is no longer mandatory. This means that you won’t have to use the EA app along with Steam to play Battlefield 6

Why it matters: The requirement to use a specific launcher for a game from the developer is pretty annoying. If you bought a game on Steam and want to play it on that platform, there shouldn’t be a need to use another launcher.

EA revealed that players won’t have to go through the trouble of using the EA App to play Battlefield 6 on Steam, which is pretty solid news. Looks like the developer is pretty serious about hitting the 100 million players mark

Steam players will not need to use EA App to play Battlefield 6, but will need an EA account. Those who purchased Battlefield 6 via the Epic Games Store will need EA App and an EA account to play.

While this is a cause for celebration for Steam, unfortunately, those who will use Epic Games as a launcher to play the game will have to use the EA APP. This requirement has only been removed for the Steam players

Among all the other launchers, EA App is perhaps the most hated one, so getting rid of it was actually the best decision. So, the go-to launchers for players should be Steam if they want to play the upcoming Battlefield peacefully. The game is set to release on October 10th, 2025, for $70, on current-gen consoles and PC.
