Baldur’s Gate 3 Features Nearly 174 Hours of Cinematics

Over Twice The Length of Game of Thrones!

Larian Studios is gearing up to release Baldur’s Gate 3 in August. The new action RPG promises greater heights for the RPG genre, with hundreds of hours of content to satisfy players.

In addition to the abundant content, Larian Studios recently announced the title would feature 174 hours of cinematics.

Why it matters: The story and lore are critical to any RPG title, and extensive cinematics will ensure players immerse themselves into the world of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur's Gate 3

It should be noted that players are unlikely to experience all of the cinematics during a single playthrough.

Baldur’s Gate 3 features branching narratives. This ensures that no two players experience the same title when playing the game. Larian Studios has also used hundreds of hours of cinematics to ensure each choice feels distinct and impactful.

Therefore, players should not be concerned by the long runtime of cutscenes. The developer has made a comparison to Game of Thrones, highlighting that Baldur’s Gate 3 features cutscenes that are over twice as long as all seasons of the TV show.

The game is also massive in other areas. Larian Studios revealed that the RPG consists of more than 600 spells. This number will increase after more spells are added to the game through post-launch updates.

The announcement also confirms that Larian Studios is working on bringing the game to Xbox consoles. While the developer is struggling with optimization, the team hopes the game will eventually be playable on Xbox Series S|X.

On the other hand, PlayStation users can enjoy the game in September. While Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to PC platforms in August, a September 6 release date has been confirmed for PS5.
