- Assassin’s Creed Shadows has helped increase the player counts of nine Assassin’s Creed games.
- Overall, the series saw an increase of 24% across nine major titles.
- Mirage saw the biggest spike, with player counts going up by nearly 50%.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a game many are greatly anticipating. Despite all the controversy around Ubisoft’s rendition of Japan, the game has surely excited fans of the franchise once again.
In fact, the buzz created by this announcement has led to a major boost in player counts across various games of this series.
Why it matters: The upcoming Ubisoft title has garnered mixed reactions. There has been a huge debate on historically inaccurate lore and the protagonists. This also led to a flurry of dislikes on the trailer.
According to TrueTrophies, the player spike has been observed across nine titles in the franchise. The count increased by 24.4% as per the 3.1 million sample accounts they had. While this is normal, seeing the increase across this many games is surely quite impressive.
As per stats, Assassin’s Creed Mirage saw the biggest increase at 46%, followed by Liberation at 32.1%. The lowest was seen with Rogue and Valhalla; the latter is often considered one of the weakest entries in the entire lineup.
Despite the 14% growth, Valhalla still boasts a huge number of players because it already has a good player base. However, the rest of the games, including Brotherhood, Revelations, Assassin’s Creed 3, and Chronicles, didn’t see any growth at all.
All in all, Ubisoft seems to be reaping the benefits of finally heading to Japan. The studio has fulfilled a longtime demand, bringing back many fans to the IP.
Despite the negativity around Shadows’ trailer, it has managed to do a great deal even before launch. It seems to be really popular, as pre-orders are supposedly doing really well. It is also the number one best-selling game on PS5 in Japan.
