- Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally coming next year.
- As expected, the title will feature Denuvo DRM.
- It has also been confirmed that players will be required to link their Ubisoft Connect account on Steam.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is currently one of the most anticipated games from Ubisoft, as the title has also been nominated for the most wanted game at the Golden Joystick Awards.
Recent reports have also suggested that the title has been in development for a decade. While Ubisoft has failed to get a positive reception from fans, more features might disappoint fans further.
As expected, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature both Denuvo DRM and account linking on Steam to enjoy the title.
Why it matters: While fans don’t favor both things, as many games like Helldivers 2 have faced criticism for account linking, Ubisoft continues to do it even with their upcoming releases.
An official Steam page for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has confirmed that the title will feature DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper, which has been used in most of Ubisoft’s recent games like Far Cry 6, AC Mirage, and others.
Not only that, but the official page also confirms that players will have to link to a Ubisoft account.
While fans have negative reviews on Denuvo DRM, as it affects the game’s performance, the company has recently denied all the claims, stating that it does not have any negative effects.
It remains to be seen how the title will perform at launch, as the controversies have hurt the game way too much. Now including features that fans don’t already like may cause more negativity around the title.
The game was planned to be released this month, but the developers have delayed it till next year, and it is finally launching on 14th February 2025.
