Full Gameplay Reveal Coming Next Month!

Story Highlight
  • The first trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has just dropped.
  • It confirms the two main protagonists for the title.
  • The game is slated for a November 15 launch and arrives on current-gen consoles only.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows, formerly known as Assassin’s Creed Red, is one of the most anticipated games from Ubisoft this year, marking a new entry in this blockbuster franchise.

The game has been in development for a long time, and Ubisoft has finally premiered the cinematic trailer, announcing a scheduled release date of November 15 for the first entry in this series exploring a Japanese setting.

Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a lot to prove since Ubisoft is late to the Japanese setting compared to other studios.

The cinematic trailer looks phenomenal. Ubisoft seems to have done an excellent job portraying Japan and living up to the cinematic quality fans have come to expect from the studio.

While this is just a cinematic trailer, it confirms the previously rumored protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. Ubisoft has also given fans a general idea of the type of gameplay to expect, though a full reveal is expected at Ubisoft Forward in June.

This cinematic reveal provides a detailed look at both Yasuke and Naoe. The latter seems more akin to the classic assassin, while Yasuke fulfills the role of a brutal combat-heavy character.

Naoe also utilizes weapons like a grapple hook as part of her arsenal. Overall, Assassin’s Creed Shadows seems to have a lot of potential.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Expected To Skip Steam At Launch

While last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage was an enjoyable journey back to this IP’s roots, the game fell short in the visual department. This should not be a problem for Assassin’s Creed Shadows since Ubisoft confirms a current generation experience.

The studio is finally stepping away from PS4 and Xbox One support, promising a completely overhauled experience.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is reportedly the biggest investment for Ubisoft in the single-player genre, which raises expectations for its quality and scope. Going by this trailer, the studio is certainly ambitious this time.

We can expect an abundance of information soon regarding the game as its scheduled release date grows closer and closer, but for now, all eyes are on Ubisoft Forward.
