Features A New Protagonist, Set In A Warped Manhattan

Story Highlight
  • Remedy Entertainment has finally announced Control Resonant, a sequel to the original.
  • The game has a brand new protagonist, Dylan Faden, with new twisted powers.
  • It has been set for a 2026 release, much earlier than everyone’s anticipation.

Remedy Entertainment is among the best single-player game studios in the industry. From titles like Max Payne, Alan Wake, Control, and Quantum Break, the studio has delivered an immense quality over the years, and now it’s ready for its next title.

At today’s The Game Awards, Remedy finally revealed the next part of its 2019 action game, Control Resonant. Notably, Jesse, the original protagonist in nowhere to be seen, and we instead have a new face.

Why it matters: Control overall had a decent reception and felt like a unique take on an action-adventure game. It was also a part of the Remedy Connected Universe, so the sequel will undoubtedly have easter eggs as well.

Control Resonant is set in a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranatural annihilation. It is an action-adventure RPG, just like the original, but the premises seem to have been expanded a lot with new powers and environments.

The game follows Dylan Faden, the new protagonist and Jesse’s brother, as he fights for his humanity and survival against a reality-bending cosmic threat. Just like other Remedy Games, we might see connections with in connected universe.

Control Resonant introduces the franchise to a brand new protagonist

This could mean we are in for a Resident Evil Requiem-like twist, where Leon was being kept a secret. So, Jesse might be somewhere in the game as well, but might be kept as a surprise for the later stages.

Most importantly, Control Resonant will be released in 2026, much earlier than most anticipated, and will be out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
