- Tides of Annihilation has returned with new footage, highlighting new combat mechanics.
- The gameplay shows off a destructive enemy boss and the Dual Frontline Battle System.
- In its current state, the title also seems to suffer from various dips in frame rate and stutters.
The action games genre seems to be going through a major resurgence currently. Following the return of Ninja Gaiden, upcoming titles like Phantom Blade Zero and Tides of Annihilation have garnered everyone’s interest.
Tides of Annihilation, in particular, appears to be very interesting since it draws inspiration from the genre’s biggest IPs, including Devil May Cry. In a new video showcased during the Xbox Partner Preview livestream, this title stuns yet again with its combat and boss gameplay.
Why it matters: Tides of Annihilation is quickly shaping up to be one of the most exciting titles of 2026 for action games since the genre has been through a major drought over the years.
The latest gameplay video highlights a boss battle against Tyronoe, The Ferryman. Like the previous footage, combat is once again shown to be quite explosive and full of high-octane combos.
Tyronoe also shows various interesting moves and boss mechanics throughout the footage. Dubbed the Mirror Combat Trailer, this trailer highlights Tyronoe’s ability to ability to create Folded Realms, making for several interesting situations throughout the battle.
The trailer shows a few very interesting gameplay mechanics for Gwendolyn as well, as she teams up with Lamorak, unlocking new dual-character combat moves and maneuverability options.
This part of the gameplay is meant to show off the Dual Frontline Battle System, where Gwendolyn teams up with the Knights of the Roundtable.

One thing that stands out in the latest footage is the game’s rough technical condition. Tides of Annihilation depicts various frame rate drops and stutters throughout the trailer, suggesting it needs more work on this front before release.
Still, going by the gameplay alone, this title appears to be a treat for hack-and-slash fans, combining the best of the genre’s biggest IPs.
