CDPR revealed a new look at The Witcher 4 this week, showcasing a gorgeous tech demo based on Unreal Engine 5. The new demo showcased advanced NPC interactions, ray-traced lighting with 60FPS, and a further refined look for Ciri.
All of these aspects were met with a largely positive reception from the community, creating further buzz for The Witcher 4. In a follow-up post discussing this tech demo, CDPR has also praised its development team. The studio states that the talent working on The Witcher 4 is quite special.
Why it matters: CDPR has developed a reputation as one of the industry’s most technically sound studios. The developer appears to be pushing technical boundaries yet again with The Witcher 4.
As per the studio’s Head of Communication, The Witcher 4’s current state is a result of developers pouring their heart and soul into the title.
He claims that the game’s core development team comprises some of the best talent this industry has to offer, which is reflected in the spectacular visuals on display in the tech demo.
Moreover, Marcin Momot, CDPR’s Global Community Director, described The Witcher 4 as ‘something special.’ He describes the development team as wizards when referring to the studio’s accomplishments with this title.
Interestingly, much of the development team comprises talent that was involved in the production of The Witcher 3. This alone has inspired plenty of confidence in audiences and CDPR fans.
All in all, the team is proud of everything it has achieved so far. It has also clarified that the recent footage did not depict real-time gameplay of The Witcher 4 to set adequate expectations.
What are your thoughts on the studio’s confidence and bold claims? Do you think the team will live up to the expectations? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.
