- PlayStation recently formed a new team in Los Angeles to work on a brand-new IP.
- We found a job listing that confirms this IP is based on Unreal Engine 5 and focuses on co-op multiplayer gameplay.
- This likely means that the Los Angeles team is part of PlayStation’s growing live-service ambitions.
PlayStation’s live-service ambitions have been dialed down following Concord’s failure. However, several live-service projects are still moving ahead. In fact, PlayStation’s recently formed studio in LA appears to be working on one too.
We have just found a job listing for a Game Systems Designer, which confirms a co-op multiplayer focus for the game.
Why it matters: PlayStation cancelled projects like Bluepoint’s God of War game and Bend’s live-service title after recent failures, raising concerns about the future.
According to the job listing, the project is a completely new IP. While this project’s existence became public recently, not much else was known. This job listing reveals several new details, with the qualifications specifically asking for experience with co-op multiplayer gameplay.
Experience with and knowledge of cooperative multiplayer design.

Moreover, we spotted a job listing for a Senior Gameplay Engineer, which further alludes to the multiplayer focus. Referencing the game’s key systems, this job listing points to networking, confirming the presence of online gameplay.
As such, the title appears to be based on the live service genre. This listing also confirms that the team is utilizing Unreal Engine 5.
Additional details reveal the new IP will focus on traversal, different weapons, and abilities. All put together, it seems PlayStation is working on a hero-shooter or hero-focused action co-op game.

-PlayStation Job Listing
Rumors have suggested that Jason Blundell is part of this newly formed PlayStation team. The developer was previously a PlayStation partner at Deviation Games, but the studio was later shut down.
It was then discovered that he had joined a different studio at PlayStation, although it has yet to be confirmed whether the Los Angeles team in question is the same studio.
Nonetheless, a co-op focus would make sense if Jason Blundell is leading the project since he has plenty of experience with Call of Duty Zombies. What do you think about this job listing? Let us know in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.
