Best budget AM5 Option?

Story Highlight
  • With the release of the Ryzen 9800X3D expected on November 7, there are significant price reductions on non-X3D Ryzen processors, including the Ryzen 9600X.
  • The Ryzen 9600X is currently available at a discounted price of $233.99 at major retailers like Amazon and Newegg.
  • Despite minimal performance differences compared to its predecessor, the Ryzen 9600X’s current price makes it an attractive and affordable option for first-time buyers.

With the Ryzen 9800X3D anticipated to ship on November 7, we are also witnessing notable reductions in the price of non-X3D processors as the excitement surrounding the X3D CPUs grows.

Why it matters: The Ryzen 9600X’s significant price drop makes it a more accessible option for budget-conscious buyers, allowing users to upgrade their systems without compromising on performance.

The Ryzen 9600X is actually on sale right now for the lowest price ever on Amazon and Newegg, making it the perfect time to get one.

The Ryzen 9600X is currently available for $233.99 at two major US vendors, which is $47 less than the MSRP when it was first released two and a half months ago. It’s important to note that AMD lowered the MSRP to $249 last week.

However, retailers don’t seem to have found that enough, and they are now using special discounts to further drop the price by $15. While Newegg requires a particular coupon code to be applied at checkout, Amazon requires you to choose the coupon before making a purchase.

While there isn’t much difference in terms of performance between the Ryzen 9600X and its predecessor, the Ryzen 9600X, with its current discount, makes it a viable option for first-time owners.

The Ryzen 9600X is also among the coolest-running AM5 processors because of its efficiency at 65W out of the box. That said, AMD has since updated the BIOS to allow the power drain to reach 105W.

This not only puts it on par with the 7600X but also raises its performance gap significantly.
