"We Were Being Harassed"

  • Sweet Baby CEO says anti-DEI critics are harassing and threatening their employees.
  • The company has been accused of forcing inclusivity, whereas it just adds a deeper meaning to the narrative, says CEO
  • Recent games that SBI has been involved in have failed terribly, leading to massive losses.

Sweet Baby Inc. first emerged on the scene back in 2018. However, the company took off during the pandemic era when social movements and other things found themselves in the gaming industry.

Since then, Sweet Baby has been a name associated mainly with spreading forced inclusivity in games, leading to many big projects failing badly and the loss of millions in revenues.

Why it matters: The company has been proven to force various agendas and political movements into gaming, which overwhelm the whole narrative of a game, leading to failure. We saw this with releases like Forspoken, Suicide Squad, and more.

Ubisoft is working with SBI for AC Shadows, and it has already been labeled woke.

At the 2024 XOXO festival, Sweet Baby CEO Kim Belair spoke out against the ‘campaigns’ that have been in motion against the company. She said that the company’s employees are being harassed and facing threats from anti-DEI critics.

The CEO said people think that the company’s agenda is to force a narrative or ‘woke-ify’ games, which is wrong as they are just a bunch of talented writers who want to explore diverse perspectives leading to innovation in video games.

We were being attacked in a massive and coordinated campaign of harassment with that rallying cry of far-right supremacy: ‘DEI’.

However, ever since it started getting big projects, the company faced enormous backlash, including death threats and being accused by the public of forcing inclusivity into the games.

Despite this, the company has received great support from its clients, who have fully supported it. Due to that, the company is going through all the harassment strongly and is more united than ever in this tough time.

Despite the CEO’s recent speech, it was recently revealed that one of Sweet Baby’s employees stated that the company wanted to burn the gaming industry to the ground. Due to the backlash, SBI also redesigned its site to hide all its work.
