Signed Agreement Before Sending Review Codes!

Story Highlight
  • Black Myth: Wukong has been surrounded by controversy since its reviews went live.
  • A leaked document reveals various restrictions the team placed on content creators and reviewers.
  • Topics like feminist propaganda and politics are among the banned subjects the developers have mentioned in the document.

Black Myth: Wukong is the most anticipated release of this year, as it’s currently the best-selling and most wish-listed title on Steam. Reviews for the action RPG have also been released, suggesting that the title is a solid GOTY contender.

Despite all of this, Black Myth: Wukong has been facing its fair share of controversy. According to reports, a streaming agreement has been leaked, which revealed that outlets couldn’t talk about sensitive topics, including feminist propaganda.

Why it matters: It was previously revealed that Game Science refused to work with Sweet Baby Inc. This led to criticism, but it seems the team has doubled down on its approach.

This is not the first time Game Science has faced controversy.

A recently leaked screenshot suggests that Game Science banned discussion of certain topics when handing out review codes.

The leaked documents reveal that Game Science gave a list of things to do and avoid. Although the first section asked everyone to simply enjoy the game, the developer has given five topics to avoid in content based on Black Myth: Wukong.

Some of them are quite standard and basic, including instructions to respect other content creators and avoid offensive language. However, Game Science also told content creators not to discuss anything regarding politics or feminist propaganda.

Do NOT include politics, violence, nudity, feminist propaganda, fetishization, and other content that instigates negative discourse.

What’s interesting is that a major review still criticized Black Myth: Wukong for lacking diversity. This review has been at the center of the controversy, creating a wave of criticism for the author.

This is not the first time Game Science has taken such a stance either. As mentioned earlier, the studio has been vocal about its intentions to avoid working with Sweet Baby Inc.

Previously, one of the lead developers also stated that men and women play different games because of biological conditions.

Anyhow, audiences are excited to see how Black Myth: Wukong performs at release. Despite the controversies, many are still excited by Game Science’s upcoming action RPG.
