Cyberpunk 2077 failed to gain much recognition for its strengths at launch. However, the game’s recent status has opened it up to various awards and accolades.
The latest title comes from the BAFTA Game Awards. Acknowledging CDPR’s efforts to revitalize the game, BAFTA has crowned it the best-evolving title of the year.
Why it matters: While work on the game has been wrapped up, CDPR remains open to future updates, making Cyberpunk 2077 worthy of competition against rapidly evolving live service titles.
CDPR has shared the official announcement, confirming its gratitude to audiences and the organization. To claim victory, Cyberpunk 2077 beat games like Forza Horizon 5, Genshin Impact, No Man’s Sky, and Fortnite.
Most of the titles in this category are considered live service games. However, the evolution of Cyberpunk 2077 has been too hard to ignore, with the franchise reaching nearly $1 billion in value.
CDPR has spent countless months fixing the game. The team is finally happy with its current state, expressing its happiness at the recent accolade.

The team also mentioned that all of this was made possible by the community. Without fan support, Cyberpunk 2077 would not have recovered in such a spectacular manner.
Interestingly, the game won a similar title at The Game Awards 2023. Recognized for the excellent Phantom Liberty expansion, it claimed the best ongoing award.
Last year’s award sparked controversy since many believed it was inappropriate to dub Cyberpunk 2077 an evolving or ongoing project. Nonetheless, CDPR’s efforts have broken past the barrier of basic genres.
These efforts have raised expectations for the next entry in the franchise. While the game is still many years away, work on The Witcher 4 is in full swing, with the team expected to enter production very soon.
