GTA 6 Unlikely To Be Delayed At This Rate!

Story Highlight
  • Work on GTA 6 is progressing rapidly as Rockstar Games heads toward the final stage of development.
  • The studio has informed its employees about the decision to begin full weeks of in-person work for the final stretch.
  • It hopes to increase productivity through such measures.

GTA 6 is currently slated for 2025, arriving on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X consoles. With Rockstar Games’ release expected to be a monumental title for the industry, everyone is gearing up for its release, including Sony, who is preparing the PS5 Pro.

However, some fans are still concerned about a potential delay. While the threat of a delay always looms as games approach their release dates, a new report should be relieving to fans. According to Jason Schreier, GTA 6 will soon enter the final stretch of development.

Why it matters: Amid massive layoffs, the gaming industry is in a difficult spot at the moment. However, the mainstream appeal of GTA 6 is expected to usher in another wave of prosperity as more people take an interest in the medium.

Rockstar Games unveiled its record-breaking first look at GTA 6 in December last year.

While the footage showed an already polished title, the developer has been known to delay its titles at least once. Both Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 suffered from slight delays, but the new report leads to hope that Rockstar Games will not repeat the same fate.

The reliable Jason Schreier states that the studio is looking to return to in-person work for five days a week starting in April. The main reason for this shift is to focus on the final stages of GTA 6’s development.

Like many teams, this developer was operating on a hybrid remote and in-person approach until recently, citing security and productivity reasons for the decision.

Rockstar Games hopes that in-person work will accelerate work on GTA 6, enabling the team to meet its release target.

Ultimately, this move might not please everyone at Rockstar Games. We also hope that it does not end up becoming an excuse for crunch in the final months of GTA 6’s development since this has been a prominent issue for the team in the past.
