The Tekken franchise has exploded in popularity with Tekken 7. Following over 10 million sales, the latest entry has ensured that the 3D fighting game can stand among giants like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.
The series has always been considered a great offering for fans of 3D fighting games, but many of the older classics are not available on modern platforms like the PS4 and PS5.
Previously, Tekken 2 was added to the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, and a new rating suggests that the subscription is gearing up to add Tekken 6 to its list of classic offerings soon.
Why it matters: PlayStation Plus Premium promises a wide variety of classic games from older PlayStation consoles. It is also priced higher than the Extra tier to ensure a large number of classic games are continuously added.
As noted by Gematsu, Tekken 6 has just been rated for PS4 and PS5 in Taiwan.
While this could be considered a hint at a potential remaster, Bandai Namco is currently focused on Tekken 8, and the team is unlikely to work on a remaster alongside this release.
The rating is likely pointing toward the PSP version of Tekken 6 being added to PlayStation Plus Premium. For the unfamiliar, the PlayStation Plus Premium catalog offers classic games from consoles like the PS1, PS2, and PSP.
Since Tekken 6 was released for the PS3 and PSP, the latter version is likely being ported to modern consoles. Additionally, the rating hints that Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is also being added to the subscription.
This is a great opportunity for PlayStation users looking to replay these modern classics.
With Tekken 8 being a highly anticipated title for fighting game fans, the new addition to PlayStation Plus Premium would allow fans to revisit Tekken 6 as they prepare for the latest entry in the 3D fighting game franchise.
