Nintendo Switch Successor Reportedly Targeting H2 2024 Release

Likely To Arrive In Second Half of 2024!

While rumors about the Nintendo Switch successor have shown up all over the internet, the validity of these sources has remained questionable. Despite the different sources, they appear to point toward a 2024 release.

However, a reliable source has now reported on Nintendo’s next console. According to VGC, the Nintendo Switch successor is likely to be released during the second half of 2024.

Why it matters: Nintendo Switch is a nearly six-year-old console now, and it is expected to lose sales momentum soon. Additionally, the hybrid console has shown its hardware limits for a while, leading to demand for a modern console.

According to the report, development kits for the next Nintendo console are already with key partner studios. With as little as a year left before release, studios have begun to familiarize themselves with the new hardware.

Unsurprisingly, the next console appears to continue the hybrid design of the Nintendo Switch, as the report confirms an option for portable mode. However, Nintendo may revert to an LCD screen from the recent OLED display.

While this would make the console pocket-friendly, it can be seen as a downgrade from the latest revision of the Nintendo Switch. The report was unable to verify details about backward compatibility, but Nintendo has already hinted at backward compatibility moving forward.

Recently, Chinese SoC and case manufacturers have hinted at the new hardware. PixArt and Hongzhun expect a massive surge in revenue next year, and Nintendo is expected to be involved in this surge.

Since Nintendo is looking to hit the market as early as H2 2024, a reveal may be imminent. While the gaming giant will likely announce the Nintendo Switch successor next year, a reveal in late 2023 is also a real possibility.
