Mortal Kombat 1 Beta Kicks Off On August 18

Pre-order For 4 Days of Access!

Mortal Kombat 1 is releasing in less than two months. In addition to plenty of gameplay footage, fans have already played the game with an extensive online stress test, allowing access to a small roster of characters.

However, NetherRealm Studios is returning with another opportunity for players, confirming the dates for the pre-order beta. The beta will kick off on August 18 and last until August 21.

Why it matters: Beta tests have become the norm for fighting games. Popular titles like Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 have conducted similar tests to allow hands-on time with the recent titles.

In addition to the date, the official Twitter account has confirmed the playable characters.

All four characters from the previous stress test will return, but players will gain access to additional characters. This includes Johnny Cage and Li Mei, both of whom have already been featured in recent gameplay footage.

Furthermore, Frost has been added as a new Kameo character, while the previous Kameo characters from the stress test will be making a return.

This should ensure Mortal Kombat fans are in for a treat in August. Players who have yet to pre-order the game can still do so to gain access to the upcoming beta.

While the game already looks exciting, NetherRealm Studios recently confirmed the roster for the first Kombat Pack. The DLC will include iconic characters like Homelander and Omni-Man, leading to even more anticipation for the latest Mortal Kombat game.
