Arkane Studios consists of Arkane Lyon and Arkane Austin. The former is popular for the Dishonored series, while the latter has worked on Prey and Redfall. However, Redfall has been a disaster for the developer.
After the recent launch of the game, it became the lowest-rated game from Arkane Austin and joined the list of Steam’s worst-reviewed titles. However, the studio appears to be returning to its roots for its next game.
A recent job listing suggests that the studio is looking to work on single-player action RPGs and immersive sims.
Arkane Studios is looking for a Lead Technical Engineer, and one of the requirements for the preferred skills asks for familiarity with single-player action RPGs. It states:
“Familiarity with single-player action RPGs and immersive sims.”
This suggests that Arkane Austin will return to its roots after Redfall. Prey is often considered an incredible immersive sim, despite being an underrated release from the studio.
The game is over six years old, but many players continue to appreciate the game for its detailed and intricate narrative. Therefore, a similar release from the developer is likely to prove more successful than Redfall.
The studio is working on a game that will be available for PC and consoles, but fans should not expect to see the game anytime soon as it will take several years to develop, and the developer is likely in the planning phase.
Following Redfall, Arkane Austin is unlikely to try another attempt at multiplayer gaming. A previous report claimed that many of the issues with the game could be attributed to Arkane Austin’s inexperience with the genre.
Even though the listing asks for network experience, the studio is likely to focus on single-player gameplay to ensure it delivers a high-quality release that players have come to expect from Arkane Studios.
