Assassin’s Creed Mirage ESRB Rating Hints At Massive Twist For Basim’s Story

Spoiler Alert For Mirage!

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is expanding on the story of Basim from the latest game in the series. It showcases the character’s journey to master assassin, taking a traditional approach to the franchise with stealth and parkour.

With the game approaching its October 12 launch date, Ubisoft has released plenty of new information about Assassin’s Creed MIrage. We have spotted that the game has also been rated by the ESRB recently, and the rating hints at a massive twist in Basim’s story.

Players looking to avoid spoilers are suggested to avoid reading further for a fresh experience with the game.

Why it matters: While Ubisoft is looking to deliver a classic experience for old fans of the franchise, this plot point could take the story in a very different direction than expected.

As seen above, the ESRB rating hints at various weapons players can use to kill enemies. However, it states:

“Players use swords, daggers, arrows, and a concealed blade to kill soldiers, fellow assassins, and boss characters.”

The phrase ‘kill fellow assassins’ could mean multiple things, but the obvious implication suggests Basim might betray the brotherhood at some point in the story.

The game’s central characters include assassins like Roshan and Fuladh. The former is Basim’s mentor and has already been featured in various trailers for the game. Still, the rating does not clarify if players kill prominent assassins in the game.

Ubisoft may also introduce other ways to pit Basim’s fellow assassins against him. This could be done through various methods that would not involve the character betraying anybody’s trust.

While Assassin’s Creed Mirage is Basim’s first game as a main character, the character is not new to the franchise. He was previously featured in the most recent game, and it is possible that his killing of fellow assassins will tie into his actions from Valhalla.

Previously, games like Assassin’s Creed Rogue have focused on the main character killing fellow assassins. However, Rogue featured Shay Cormac and his move toward the templars throughout the narrative.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage does not have a similar focus. As such, it will be interesting to see how the killing of assassins comes into play and affects the game’s overall story.
