Cyberpunk 2077 has become famous as one of the most popular comeback stories in the gaming industry. Rivaled only by the likes of No Man’s Sky, the game’s perception has completely shifted after a disastrous launch in 2020.
A CDPR developer recently noted that Cyberpunk 2077 has a mostly positive rating on Steam now, which became a moment of joy and pride for all the developers that worked several years on the game.
However, another developer commented on the achievement. While expressing similar gratitude and joy, he also claimed that CDPR still had much to do to win back lost trust with the latest release.
Why it matters: Before the release of Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR had built a reputation for being honest and standing out among other AAA developers.
You have no idea how much it means 🥺😭
Thank you so much for all this reviews! Not taking any of it for granted, still lots to be done to get back your trust 🥺 https://t.co/h2UoJ4fnot

The statement comes from Quest Director Pawel Sasko, and he said:
“Not taking any of it for granted, still lots to be done to get back your trust.”
As stated earlier, CDPR was considered a unique developer before the latest release. Following The Witcher 3, CDPR found incredible popularity, and many consumers believed the studio was the ideal AAA developer.
The Witcher 3 also received several expansions that delivered incredible value compared to the industry’s trend of chasing micro-transactions at the time. As such, the excitement for Cyberpunk 2077 was high a few months before its release.
The developer had built a great relationship with the industry, and many had expected CDPR to fulfill all the promises made with the title. However, the game launched in a disappointing manner, and the studio quickly lost all the good faith it had built up.
Still, CDPR has already received plenty of praise for sticking with Cyberpunk 2077. Various patches have brought massive changes to the game, and the Phantom Liberty update will overhaul nearly every gameplay system.
Furthermore, the studio has already announced a sequel for Cyberpunk 2077. Multiple new games in The Witcher franchise have also been confirmed, so the studio has various opportunities to earn the industry’s trust gradually.
Pawel Sasko’s statement appears to hint at the general sentiment from CDPR. Therefore, the developer will likely keep this in mind moving forward and ensure that the industry is not let down in the coming years.
Thank you! Please share your positive feedback. 🔋
