Ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase, leaks predicted that id Software would have a huge trailer for audiences. What started with a small rumor quickly turned into an unprecedented buzz once more information on Doom: The Dark Ages was leaked.
Sure enough, id Software’s next game marks another outing for the beloved Doom Slayer. The protagonist is back to hunt demons and send them to their graves, with the developers taking fans to a medieval setting this time.
Why it matters: The last two Doom entries have been critically acclaimed. With the team returning after two incredible first-person shooters, expectations are higher than ever.
Doom: The Dark Ages is quite a different type of game compared to Eternal. However, it brings id Software’s signature style to the table.
Fans can expect to rip and tear plenty of demons as they go through the ultimate power fantasy. The studio is also likely to release another highly optimized game due to a long history of pushing visual fidelity while maintaining a high benchmark for performance.
