Nadella Describes His Reaction As A Massive Moment Of "Wow"!

Story Highlight
  • Microsoft CEO said that a huge catalog of Xbox games would soon utilize Muse AI.
  • While it was previously thought that Muse would only be used to preserve older games, that wasn’t the case.
  • Nadella’s response to Muse was a “wow” moment similar to the first time the world saw ChatGPT complete sentences.

Xbox’s Generative AI, Muse, has been making waves in the gaming community, with most players and even developers completely renouncing such an idea.

While many thought that Muse’s implementation was still afar, Microsoft’s
CEO said that a huge catalog of games would utilize the model soon.

Why It Matters: While the actual implementation of Muse is unknown, many thought it was specifically for game preservation. Moreover, the majority reject the concept because AI ruins a game’s artistic integrity.

In an interview on YouTube, Satya Nadella further discussed his thoughts on Muse.

we’re going to have a catalog of games soon that we will start using these models

Moreover, the CEO recalls Phil Spencer showing him the model for the very first time and called the AI quite consistent.  Nadella’s reaction to Phil Spencer demonstrating Muse was a ‘wow‘ moment, akin to the first time he saw ChatGPT complete sentences.

From our understanding, Muse’s key feature is its ability to take human input and generate a simulated gameplay experience. The AI model has been trained on Ninja Theory’s Bleeding Edge game with several years of gameplay data fed.

It’s unknown what future titles will utilize Muse, but it’s not going to go well for Xbox. AI models, in general, face a lot of backlash in any creative field.

Speculation was that Muse would be used to help port older games fast, but certainly wasn’t the only case. With increasing budgets for video game development, Muse would bring down costs, but it’s unknown at what price that would come down to.
