- Xbox Elite controllers are some of the most popular pro controllers in the market.
- The latest refresh, the Elite Series 3, is expected to be released this year.
- A next-gen controller was also greenlit with built-in Wi-Fi for Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Xbox controllers have been the staple for many people over the years. They are not only very reliable but also offer some of the best compatibility for PC users. However, the Xbox Elite controller is due for a refresh, and it might happen this year.
A new report claims that the Xbox Elite Series 3 controller will come out this year. These controllers are generally geared towards pros, who require features like tap triggers, additional buttons, and more.
Why it matters: The “Pro” controller space has seen a lot of activity with Sony having the Dual Sense Edge, others like Flydigi, but the Xbox controllers remain the default choice for many gamers.

According to The Verge, we can expect the Elite Series 3 to launch this year. A next-gen Xbox controller has also been greenlit, which will include built-in Wi-Fi and help with reduced latency during Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 debuts in 2026, which would align with a rollout of next-gen Xbox controllers.

The Series Elite refresh has been a long time coming. As good as Series 2 is, it has some glaring issues, like standard joysticks that are prone to drift. However, there is no confirmation if Series 3 will ship with hall-effect sticks or not.
Other quality control issues have also been recurrent, with reports of peeling grips, sticky buttons, and more, which people don’t expect for the steep price. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see what Xbox does with it.
