  • While both games have different strengths and weaknesses, The Witcher 3 takes the crown here due to its gameplay and plot.

When it comes to video games, RPGs are undeniably one of the most popular genres. Within that space, there’s no shortage of great titles, but the debate often arises over which one stands above the rest.

Skyrim and The Witcher 3 are usually the first two that come to mind for most gamers, but the question remains on which RPG is truly better. According to a recent poll, fans have crowned The Witcher 3 as the winner.

Why it matters: The Witcher 3 and Skyrim are both equal in popularity, with each title having different strengths. As such, this choice is a tough one, but The Witcher 3 takes the win here.

Fans Decide Their Favorite RPG In A New Poll Conducted On ResetEra

In a recent ResetEra poll comparing the two, The Witcher 3 outshone Skyrim by a significant margin. While Skyrim secured only 24.4% of the votes, The Witcher 3 dominated with 61.9%, clearly winning over the masses.

The majority of fans claimed that The Witcher 3 had better gameplay and a world worth losing oneself in with the details, world-building, characters and storylines. In comparison, Skyrim feels junky and a vanilla experience.

Skyrim has better role-playing and replayability with its character classes offering different playstyles and skillsets. Additionally, the Elder Scrolls’ lore is unrivalled in the video game realm. The incredible mod support can make the game an entirely different experience.

That said, the two titles offer completely different experiences despite being RPGs at their core.
