First Look Expected Early Next Year!

Story Highlight
  • We know very little about the upcoming Tomb Raider title except for some artworks.
  • A new rumor has surfaced, suggesting that the game is set to release next year alongside Grand Theft Auto 6.
  • The rumor also revealed that the game’s first look is expected early next year.

Tomb Raider is one of the most classic franchises, as its main lead is considered one of the best characters in the history of gaming. However, the last game in the franchise was released in 2018, so it has been 7 years since fans have been deprived of a new title.

That said, a new iteration in the series has been in development for quite a few years now using the Unreal Engine 5. While we haven’t seen much of that game, a new rumor has suggested that the game isn’t that far away. According to a new report, the game is set to release next year alongside Grand Theft Auto 6.

Why it matters: Releasing a game alongside GTA 6 would be pretty brutal, but that may not be the case when it comes to this classic franchise. Tomb Raider is loved by millions worldwide, and it may not significantly impact sales.

As Per Previous Reports, The Upcoming Tomb Raider Will Feature A Open World

In a now-deleted post on a Tomb Raider Subreddit, it was revealed that the game is targeting a May 2026 release window. The user who posted it warned that the post would be taken down soon, but some users managed to replicate all of the information accurately.

The next mainline game is currently targeting a May 2026 release (Grand Theft Auto VI could cause a delay or a month of early release). A fan event is planned for February 14, 2026 to early-celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, where a first look of the title is expected.

If this rumor is anything to go by, it seems like we will be getting a first look at the game early next year. It may be possible for the title to release just three months after being shown to the public, as it has already entered the polishing phase.

The rumor also claims that GTA 6 may cause it to be delayed or released a month earlier. The former may be more believable. That said, fans should take this information with a grain of salt until it is confirmed officially.
