- Ubisoft Union members are calling for CEO Yves Guillemot to resign.
- They claim that all employees were displeased with the company’s recent policies.
- Further adding, they don’t believe that the publisher can regain employee trust without Yves departing from his current position.
The situation at Ubisoft continues to deteriorate, and it seems employees have finally had enough, as they line up to fight back against recent company decisions. With constant layoffs, game cancellations, and studio closures, employees have lost trust and faith in the once-hailed publisher.
Now, Ubisoft Union members are calling for the company’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, to resign. The members don’t believe that the management can regain employee trust under the current CEO’s reign.
Why it matters: The upcoming slate of Ubisoft projects finally hinted at a long-overdue comeback. Unfortunately, the company’s darkest days are far from over, and with the current momentum, it’s unlikely to bounce back anytime soon.
Persistent Internal Turmoil

Marc Rutschlé and Chakib Mataoui are members of the Solidaires Informatique, a French-based union federation, and they currently serve at Ubisoft’s Paris branch. Speaking with the Game Developer, the members talked about how employees felt betrayed by the top management.
Screenshots from the company’s internal communication channel were shared with the publication, showing a level of utter disappointment among all employees. For reference, the publisher has ordered a Return-To-Office Mandate and new cost-cutting measures to save €200 million over the next couple of years.
The CEO himself was called out in a few of those messages, and Marc Rutschlé and Chakib Mataoui are now calling for his exit. Emphasizing the fact that they believe Yves isn’t solely responsible for the company’s fallout, they did state that he is ultimately responsible.
“It’s his company, at the end of the day,”
From what the union members are saying, the situation at the company has been dire since 2020, when it was accused of cultivating an environment where abusers could thrive. This was also the same year when the CEO was accused of alleged misconduct.

Further talking about Yves, Rutschlé added:
“I expect nothing from this guy.” – . “I think the level of hate people have for him [means] he should move on. Then, we could build some sort of trust again.”
On the other hand, Mataoui spoke about the new Tencent subsidiary, which has formed Vantage Studio, led by none other than Charlie Guillemot, the son of the current CEO. The worker once touched on the concept of nepotism in the company and continued to state that the lack of diversity will prevent the company from forming new ideas, ultimately halting creativity.
It’s pretty clear that most employees share Rutschlé and Mataou’s sentiments on the topic of a leadership change. Just yesterday, we reported that Ubisoft had fired an employee who had worked at the company for 13 years for criticizing the company’s new policies.
