This resulted in the game selling 12 million copies just within 12 weeks’ time. Following this success, Chinese gaming giant Tencent invested $80 million in developer Arrowhead Studios, owning 15.75% of the studio’s total shares.

This report comes from the Swedish media outlet Dagens Industri, which reports that Tencent bought this share in July of last year. Moreover, Arrowhead Studios is now worth $532 million.

Furthermore, Helldivers 2 also generated $100 million in revenue in 2024, with operating profits totalling $76 million.

Regarding Tencent now being a stakeholder in Arrowhead Studios, the former CEO had the following comment to say.

Tencent has been experiencing significant growth with its recent investments. The Chinese gaming giant has also secured a new subsidiary with Ubisoft, which will focus on the French publisher’s major IPs, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and others.
