Those wondering what were the results of Metacritic 13th annual Game Publisher Rankings now don’t have to wonder anymore. Metacritic has announced the results, and Sony takes the throne.
Sony Interactive Entertainment was rated the best Metractric’s publisher. Sony left Paradox Interaction, Activision Blizzard, Focus Entertainment, and Take-Two Interactive to become the best-rated publisher in 2022.
Sony Interactive received an average score of 85.6, Paradox Interactive received an average score of 81.8, and Activision Blizzard received an average score of 76.5.
Moreover, it is worth noticing that Microsoft wasn’t on the list because it failed to deliver the five titles in 2022. Metacritic’s policy is that a publisher must deliver at least five titles to enter the rankings.
Last year Sony released some of the most loved titles, such as God of War Ragnarok, The Last of Us Part 1, Horizon Forbidden West, and more. These titles were released for the console. So was it evident for Sony to receive more points based on these games?
That might not be the case, as it could have been anyone’s victory. Different factors ranked the publishers. The first factor was based on the percentage of scored titles with positive reviews. The second factor was based on the percentage of scored titles with negative reviews, and the last was based on the number of great games released.
Other famous publishers, such as Bandai Namco and Ubisoft, didn’t rank high. Last year’s top-rated publisher is undoubtedly Sony, but we can’t be sure who will win this year. We can’t wait to see the results of this year’s competition as it seems fierce.
Nowadays, there has been way too much going on between publishers due to the Activision Blizzard Deal, such as Sony trying to sabotage the deal. Moreover, recently Sony claimed that Xbox Game Pass is far ahead of PS Plus.
