On paper, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 doesn’t sound like too interesting a prospect. It features a limited scope and turn-based gameplay that not everyone is into, but when you jump into the title, that’s where the true magic happens.
Renowned Twitch streamer and former esports player, Shroud, criticized the title for having so many nominations before playing it. Now that he’s finally played it, he has become a believer and says he is really enjoying it.
Why it matters: Winning the GOTY award opened Sandfall’s epic RPG to a whole new audience. It convinced people to buy the title, leading to a 6x boost in sales and a whole new fan base that adores it.
Shroud argued that ARC Raiders deserves the GOTY award over Expedition 33. The latter, too, has been one of the finest games of the year, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that how good Expedition 33 is.

Shroud also gives a shoutout to Asmongold, who convinced him that he would love the game once he plays it. That turned out to be true, and he says the game gets better the more it progresses into the story.
