Capcom Seemingly Wants Big Sales For Requiem!

Story Highlight
  • Insider states that Capcom has plans to release Resident Evil Requiem on the last-gen PS4 and Switch 2 consoles.
  • A last-gen Xbox release wasn’t mentioned.
  • These ports are expected to arrive sometime after the initial release.

Resident Evil Requiem is Capcom’s biggest release in the franchise in almost a decade. The most awaited entry to date, the developers are poised to try something new with the title to freshen up the horror formula and attract an entirely new fanbase.

As such, Capcom wants as many players as possible to play the game. Now, an insider hints that Resident Evil Requiem will be launching on the last-gen PS4 and the new Switch 2 handheld console.

Why it matters: The PS4 is severely outdated compared to today’s standards. A last-gen release would have limited Resident Evil Requiem’s true capabilities visually.

Resident Evil Requiem Will Reportedly Be Released On A Wide Range Of Consoles || Source: Social Media

Dusk Golem made this claim on social media, stating that several sources have corroborated that Resident Evil Requiem should be arriving on the PS4 and Switch 2. As per the insider, this discussion has been going on for quite some time behind the scenes, but publicly, he was the first one to make this claim.

Moreover, he mentions that these ports would be released sometime after the initial launch. While a Switch 2 release definitely isn’t out of the question, a PS4 port seems absurd.

Notably, Dusk Golem didn’t mention a last-gen Xbox release.

A Third-Person PoV Was Chosen To Make The Game Less Scary

Resident Evil Requiem is by far one of the most visually appealing games of 2026. The PS4 hardware is more than a decade old and isn’t able to handle it at all. Regardless of whether Capcom still goes ahead with it, the release would have to be severely downgraded.

However, the insider seems pretty confident about these leaks, so we’ll have to wait and see.

In other news, Resident Evil 9 is set to be the scariest release in the franchise and will feature a brand-new protagonist. Early previews have been positive, indicating that Capcom is likely to have another successful title on its hands.
